|The Center for Experimental Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics – CENPA – at the University of Washington invites applications for a one or more full-time Research Assistant Professors (RAP) in experimental nuclear physics for an anticipated appointment beginning April 2017. These non-tenure track positions will be for an initial 3-year appointment, and are renewable for a total of 5 years depending on performance.
Although the RAP will be primarily engaged in research activities, participation in undergraduate and graduate supervising and service is expected. Teaching is by arrangement. Applicants should have a PhD (or foreign equivalent), post-doctoral experience of at least 3 years, a documented record of research achievements, and an established record of publications.
We are seeking one individual who can initially assume a leadership role in the muon g-2 experiment with a particular expertise in calorimeter and electronics design, construction, and testing. The candidate will be expected to take on a leading role in g-2 data taking and help lead the UW data analysis effort. A second candidate will be considered for the related CENPA research interests, which include Majorana Demonstrator neutrinoless double beta decay, KATRIN and Project-8 neutrino mass measurements, and He-6 beta decay.
