We are seeking an individual with leadership skills who desires to build a scientific, educational and service oriented approach to improve population health, especially among vulnerable and underserved populations. Examples of relevant areas of need are as diverse as the high rates of infant mortality in Ohio, partnering with The Ohio State University Wexner (OSU) Medical Center to promote successful adaptation to payment reform, and to assessing of environmental health risks in low-resource settings. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and leadership in assessment of health outcomes, value of health care delivery, or population health. It is expected that an ideal candidate will have familiarity and experience with data analytics to solve complex problems in a health system or community setting. Desired qualifications include conducting systems-science based health policy research alongside key stakeholders, designing data management solutions for diseases or risk factor management, experience using large databases to profile care processes and health outcomes, and developing and testing technologies with public health applications. The College of Public Health, in partnership with other academic units at OSU, is committed to advancing public health by the collection, coordination, and analysis of large, complex data sets and building predictive models leading to informed health policies. Suitable candidates would be hired at the rank of an associate or full professor. This position is partially funded by Ohio State’s Discovery Themes initiative, a significant faculty hiring investment in key thematic areas in which the university can build on its culture of academic collaboration to make a global impact.

Qualifications: Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D., M.D., or comparable doctoral degree with scientific expertise in related disciplines such as public health, economics, systems engineering, business, public policy, mathematics, and statistics, and to present evidence of excellence in teaching and research. Appointment is contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and/or university policies, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
