Research- and Policy-Related Opportunity at the Policy Lab at the Yale University Institution for Social and Policy Studies (ISPS)

Professors Jacob Hacker and Andrew Papachristos seek a postdoctoral associate/postgraduate associate in policy research for a one-year, full-time appointment starting in August 2017 (or earlier, depending on availability). The position is for a researcher with interests in domestic policy-related domains (especially, criminal justice, education, and economic inequality) with a desire to help develop new collaborative educational and research opportunities for Yale undergraduate and graduate students at ISPS. In addition to pursuing his or her own individual research agenda, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include assisting Professors Hacker and Papachristos in the development of a new collaborative research-policy initiative; mentoring undergraduate and graduate researchers and undergraduate interns; and working with city-, state- and occasionally national-level policy makers. Technical skills—such as statistical and computer skills and understanding of social science methods—are highly desirable. Excellent organizational and project management skills are a must. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent professional degree. Outstanding candidates with a masters in public policy and/or administration will be considered as well.

Review of applications will commence on March 1, 2017, and will continue until a successful candidate is identified. Applicants are asked to prepare PDF files that contain a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and contact information for three references (who would be contacted during the final stage of consideration).
