The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University invites applications for a three-year, renewable, non-tenure-track position as the Director of the Master of Science in Foreign Service master’s degree. The Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) is a professional master’s degree in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Its goal is to prepare women and men to be creative leaders in the public, private and non-profit sectors of international affairs. In keeping with the vision of the School’s founder, Father Edmund A. Walsh, S.J., MSFS seeks to instill in its students a commitment to service in the international community and an appreciation for the ethical dimension of international affairs. 

The Director is appointed by the Dean of the School of Foreign Service (SFS) and serves as leader of the MSFS Program. The Director has, inter alia, the following responsibilities:  
  • Development and execution of strategic planning for MSFS, including projections of resource requirements to achieve implementation of the plan • Oversight of the MSFS Leadership Team 
  • Convening regular meetings of the MSFS Council, consisting of the MSFS Leadership Team and the elected MSFS Student Representatives
  • Supervising the process of student recruitment, admissions, and the awarding of scholarships and other financial assistance
  • Supervising the process of course development and scheduling 
  • Supervising the process of recruitment and hiring of adjunct faculty
  • Supervising the process of evaluating faculty teaching courses for MSFS
  • Fundraising, in collaboration with the Dean’s Office and the Office of Advancement
  • Alumni Relations, including management of the MSFS Board of Advisors
  • Serving as an advisor to the Dean as a member of the group of MSFS Graduate Program Directors, coordinated by the Senior Associate Dean for Graduate and Faculty Affairs
