Associate Provost for Academic Affairs

The Associate Provost for Academic Affairs is primarily responsible for institutional accreditation and assessment initiatives serving as the Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) as well as reporting and working with the Illinois Board of Education (IBHE).  The position reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and responsible for other duties assigned as outlined below.

Responsibilities:

·        Collaborating with and communicating to campus constituencies (all campuses).

·        Responsible for institutional accreditation and assessment initiatives in working with the Higher Learning Commission and the Illinois Board of Education (IBHE).

·        Work collaboratively with the Executive Director of University Planning and Research.

·        Serve as a member of the University Planning Council and Assessment Task Force.

·        Convene the Academic Appeals Board and the Committee on Academic Standing along with communication to students with respect to violations/appeals of the Academic Honesty Policy and the probation and dismissal process.

·        Serve as an ex-officio member of Academic Council.

·        Provide updates to the university faculty handbook and develop the academic operations calendar.

·        Issue faculty appointment letters.

·        Work collaboratively with the Provost in the development and revision of policy and communication with various stakeholders.

Qualifications:

·        Doctoral degree.  Preferred fields include educational research, research and evaluation, or related field.

·        Experience in college/university/department/program accreditation and assessment programs.

·        Experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods and data analysis.

·        Ability to manage concurrent projects.

·        Demonstrated ability to facilitate effective communication across different university areas and across campuses.
