The Department of Physics at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellowships in Cosmology. McWilliams Fellows are expected to carry out their own program of original research, independently or in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students. We anticipate offering [at least] two positions this year.

McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellowships are part of the McWilliams Center for Cosmology at Carnegie Mellon (website The McWilliams Center synergizes research of the Carnegie Mellon Departments of Physics, Computer Science and Statistics, and benefits as well from the nearby Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center and the University of Pittsburgh Physics and Astronomy Department. The growth of the Center since it began in 2008 involves faculty hires, multiple McWilliams Postdoctoral Fellows, and large computing facilities. Carnegie Mellon faculty participate, including in leadership roles, in multiple collaborations including those associated with SDSS-IV, ACT, HSC, DES, Simons Observatory, SPT, DESI, Euclid, WFIRST, and the LSST.

Appointments are for 2 years, with renewal for a third year likely, contingent upon satisfactory progress. The position comes with a competitive salary, an annual research budget, health benefits, and relocation expenses.
