Lehigh University
Postdoctoral Scholar in Experimental Membrane Biophysics

The department of Physics at Lehigh University is seeking to fill a positon with the Honerkamp-Smith lab for an experimental post-doctoral researcher beginning September 2017. The project involves collaboration with experimental and theory groups in the Department of Biological Sciences to investigate protein advection in two parallel systems: reconstituted membranes and living cells.

The researcher will design and conduct experiments combining microfluidics with fluorescence microscopy and biochemical assays. Responsibilities will also include assistance with training graduate and undergraduate students. The salary is $48,000 with benefits, and the position is renewable for up to two years.

Applicants should have experience with preparing lipid membranes, and characterizing them via fluorescence microscopy. The ideal applicant will also be familiar with using Matlab, Python, or another language for image analysis. Experience with membrane protein purification and/or reconstitution is welcome, but not required. Candidates should have a PhD in physics, chemistry, engineering, or a related discipline by the start of the position. Please send a cover letter, CV, and two letters of recommendation or contact information for two referees by September 15, 2017. The position can start as early as September but a later start is also possible if necessary.
