An Instructor position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Hong-Sheng Li at the Department of Neurobiology, University of Massachusetts Medical School. The duties of this position are 1) investigating glial modulations of neuronal signaling in the Drosophila visual system, 2) characterizing mechanisms of fly retinal degeneration, 3) writing manuscripts based on acquired research data, and 4) training students in the lab. Candidates must have multiple years of postdoctoral training in fly genetics, and must have recently worked on functions of both neuron and glia in the fly visual system. Strong experimental skills in biochemistry, molecular cloning, cell culture, in vivo imaging and electrophysiology are required.
