Duke University Medical Center

Department of Neurology

Duke University invites applications for potential tenure-track faculty members to join our newly established Duke Center for Neurodegeneration and Neurotherapeutics, which will be directed by Dr. Al La Spada. In the academic year 2017-18, we are searching for talented investigators to fill two faculty positions. Appointments may be at any level, with an expectation that one position will be filled by an early-stage investigator who would start his/her independent career at Duke, and one position will be filled by a mid-career investigator at the Associate Professor rank or a senior investigator at the Professor rank.

Ideal applicants will be employing genetic, molecular, cellular, and/or neurobiological approaches to the study of neurodegenerative diseases, including especially Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, or frontotemporal dementia. Successful candidates will have track records of creativity and productivity, demonstrated potential for outstanding future achievement, and a desire to participate in an exciting, interactive, and growing neuroscience and neurological disease research community. All Center faculty will be expected to mount a productive and innovative research program, obtain extramural funding, and actively participate in graduate student, medical student, and postdoctoral fellow education. Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., M.D.-Ph.D., or equivalent degree(s). Qualified women and minority candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

For full consideration, applications should be submitted by November 30th, 2017, although applications will be considered until the initial two positions are filled. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a brief summary of current and proposed research, reprints of 3 key publications, and 3 letters of recommendations.
