The Department of Microbiology and Physiological Systems at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, has an opening for an Instructor position with an expected start date in July 2018.

The Department of Microbiology and Physiological Systems is seeking applications for non-tenure track Instructor position in virology. We seek an individual with >6 years of postdoctoral experience studying human-virus interactions, with a strong experience working with multiple viruses including HIV-1, flaviviruses and hepatitis B virus. The successful candidate must have expertise in cell biology, confocal microscopy, biochemistry, and functional genomics using high throughput approaches. Research expertise in virology, molecular virology, cell biology/microscopy, biochemistry, and high throughput genetic screening is required.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence and originality in research and relevant postdoctoral experience as demonstrated by a strong publication record in the required areas of expertise. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to expanding an extramurally funded research program and will integrate with a dynamic and collaborative group of faculty whose research spans diverse areas of biology including virology, microbiology, and immunology. They will join a vibrant community of biologists on the UMass Medical School campus in the Department of Microbiology and Physiological Systems and the Immunology and Microbiology Program with opportunities to establish collaborations with a diverse group of researchers in several additional departments and programs including Medicine, Biochemistry, and Bioinformatics and Integrative Biology.
