Position Description
The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program (WGS) at Boston University invites applications for a salaried full-time lecturer to begin July 1, 2024. 3/2 teaching load with a renewable contract. Ph.D. or advanced graduate course work in women's, gender, and sexuality studies or other relevant academic discipline in the humanities or humanistic-oriented social sciences required. Candidates should demonstrate a solid grounding in gender, queer, and/or transgender studies. Desired teaching and research interests include: queer and trans studies, including queer/trans of color critique; critical disability studies; the environment; science and technology studies; migration; or settler colonialism. Ideal candidates will be those with a demonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary, intersectional feminist pedagogies.Please submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, writing sample and/or research statement, a teaching portfolio with evidence of teaching effectiveness, multiple sample syllabi for WGS courses, including theory courses, and three letters of recommendation. In addition, we believe that the cultural and social diversity of our Program is vitally important to the excellence of our academic offerings and request a statement from candidates on how they incorporate diversity and inclusiveness in their teaching and research. Teaching experience and Ph.D. prior to appointment are expected. ABD candidates are welcome to apply, however, the degree must be conferred prior to the start of the Fall 2024 semester.
