The Colgate University Music Department invites applications for a tenure stream assistant professor of music position as Director of Choral Programs, beginning fall semester, 2022. DMA preferred, but applications from ABD candidates will also be accepted. Responsibilities include directing the University Chorus and Chamber Singers and teaching music appreciation, harmony, and basic musicianship and songwriting. We especially welcome applicants with an interest in innovative and diverse programming (both within and beyond the traditional choral repertory), and with opportunities for collaboration across the arts and other disciplines. The successful candidate will fulfill the expectation that all Colgate faculty participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.

In addition to teaching and service, scholarship–which, for the choral conductor, is defined as performances, reviews, recordings and/or publications will be required for tenure and promotion. Application materials, comprising a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and three current reference letters must be submitted through https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/program/21194.

Colgate strives to be a community supportive of diverse perspectives and identities. Candidates should describe in their cover letter how their approach to teaching and scholarship might create an inclusive educational environment.

Review of applications begins on March 18 and will continue until the position is filled. Colgate is a vibrant liberal arts university of 3200 students situated in central New York. Colgate faculty are committed to excellence in both teaching and scholarship.
