The Sociology and Anthropology Department at Colgate University welcomes applications for a
visiting assistant professor position in sociology, to begin fall semester 2022. Because of the late
date, we are proceeding with a quick search and hope to have results in the next few weeks.
Colgate is a vibrant liberal arts university of 3,000 students situated in central New York state.
Our faculty are committed to excellence in both teaching and scholarship. The position is for
one year. This position may have the possibility of being renewed beyond one year, pending
institutional need.
We seek a sociologist who will expand the existing strengths of the department (https://www.colgate.edu/academics/departments-programs/department-sociology-and-anthropology/faculty-and-staff-sociology), particularly
scholars whose research and teaching incorporates intersectionality in some fashion. Strong
candidates will be able to teach Introduction to Sociology and electives in their areas of
specialization. Candidates with prior teaching experience preferred.
Completion of a PhD. in Sociology is required prior to or shortly after the date of hire.
