The Research Associate (RA) will primarily be working on two main research projects in the laboratory. Project 1, Canine hemangiosarcoma. Responsibilities for this project will include collection and analysis of genome-wide data from canine hemangiosarcoma, hyperplastic, and normal splenic tissues. Additionally, the RA will be expected to perform benchtop experiments (PCR, western blotting, etc.) to validate findings from the genome-wide studies. Project 2. Investigation of the role of PAD enzymes in ER+ breast cancer. The primary responsibilities for this project will be to work with a range of breast cancer cell lines to investigate the role of PAD enzymes in facilitating ER target gene activation. This analysis will be performed using ChRO-Seq, Chip-Seq, RNA-seq and other genome-wide technologies as well as more routine lab procedures. This work will be performed in coordination with Dr. Coonrod's lab manager who will assist you with cell culture and other lab procedures. Additionally, there may also be a need for you to help the lab manager carry out molecular analysis of mouse tissues for our mouse studies. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry. Experience with data analysis, next generation sequencing, and strong computer skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential for participating in our multi-disciplinary team. Strong work ethic, creativity, enthusiasm, and ability to work in a team are required. Full-time, one-year appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance.

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.
  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
