Post-Doctoral Associate 

Division of Nutritional Sciences, Cornell University 

 

The Division of Nutritional Sciences, Cornell University is seeking applications for a full-time post-doctoral associate to join a multidisciplinary research team focused on maternal and child nutrition. We are conducting several large randomized clinical trials, cohort studies, and surveillance programs, in South Asia, Central and South America, and the United States related to nutrition, infectious diseases, and maternal and child health; funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 


The post-doctoral associate will provide expertise in nutrition and epidemiology and develop scientific manuscripts and research grant applications, leveraging research from randomized clinical trials, cohort studies, and population-based surveillance programs. This position will be based in Ithaca, New York, with the potential for remote/flexible work and short-term fieldwork at international research sites. This is a 1-year full-time position with the possibility for renewal based on performance and funding.   


Responsibilities 

  1. Coordination of research, operational, data, laboratory, and regulatory activities for research projects, including randomized trials, cohort studies, population-based surveillance programs  
  2. Development of research manuscripts and systematic reviews 
  3. Development and submission of grant applications to funding agencies, including the National Institutes of Health 

 

Qualifications 

  1. A doctoral degree in Nutrition, epidemiology, or related clinical or public health field   
  2. Excellent quantitative, technical, analytic, and applied research skills   
  3. Excellent written and communication skills, including scientific writing   
  4. Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, detail-oriented work style, and consistent follow through on projects   
  5. Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary research team    
  6. Research experience in international research settings, interest in maternal and child nutrition, and familiarity with biological, medical, nutrition and/or public health research preferred   
  7. Training in epidemiologic methods and experience in statistical programming software, including proficiency in SAS and R, is desirable, though not required for the position

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.
  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
  • Unique applicable skills.
