The Laboratory of Plasma Studies at Cornell University is seeking a Research Associate scholar to work in the area of experimental High-Energy-Density Physics (HEDP). The successful candidate must have a PhD in a related area and considerable experience past the PhD with HEDP Z-Pinch experiments and associated diagnostics. In particular, experience with laser interferometry, Thomson scattering, visible and x-ray spectroscopy and XUV imaging is a requirement. It is expected that the candidate will also have experience with scientific programing in MATLAB, Python or an equivalent language for modeling and data analysis. A working knowledge of the pulsed power technology associated with Marx generators and Linear Transformer Drivers is also desired. In addition to these scientific and technical capabilities, a successful candidate will take part in supervising graduate students and laboratory technicians.
