Position Description:

SUMMARY: This Research Associate position involves computational research and related professional activities concerning genetic variation in human DNA replication timing.

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY: Perform computational analysis of whole-genome DNA sequence, DNA copy number, DNA replication timing, and genotype data of thousands of people.

Research (90%) The primary role of the Research Associate is to engage in innovative research designed to characterize the genetic basis of human DNA replication timing. This includes analyzing whole-genome next-generation DNA sequence data and DNA replication timing data of thousands of people, generated in the lab and in collaborating labs; genome-wide association with genetic variants; identification of quantitative trait loci; analysis of DNA copy number and DNA replication timing variation in cancer genomes; and bioinformatics analyses. Expected to conceptualize, initiate, and pursue novel hypotheses and genomic explorations with a high degree of intellectual and day-to-day independence. Draft and submit multiple manuscripts for publication in top-level peer-reviewed scientific journals; present results at professional meetings, lab meetings, and conferences. Engage in ongoing academic and intellectual life within relevant scientific programs at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. Interface with collaborators at other universities.

Training (10%) The Associate will collaborate with other researchers in the lab on the project, training them in methods as needed.

This is a one term position with the possibility of extension dependent upon funding and performance.
