About the Position:

Duke University Law is seeking applicants for multiple adjunct positions.  These positions are short-term, part-time, non-benefits eligible positions.  Selected candidates will teach a single class for the Fall Semester of 2019. Candidates must have demonstrated and specialized legal expertise in the areas of need within the Law School, currently identified as antitrust, entertainment law, legal ethics, comparative law, health law and policy, gender issues. 


Development of course materials that meet the expectations and policies articulated by the Law School’s Curriculum Committee and the Office of Academic Affairs, and as required by the American Bar Association’s accreditation standards.  The instructor must be available to teach onsite each week of the 13 weeks during the Fall semester, except as requested or approved by the Office of Academic Affairs.  The instructor must be available to students outside of teaching hours, through timely responses to emails and through in-person office hours.  The instructor will be responsible for appropriate and timely feedback to students, including evaluation and grading of student coursework. 


-      Graduation from an ABA-accredited law school

-      Significant practice or policy experience in areas of identified need

-      Documented, specialized legal expertise in identified areas of need

-      Ability to develop and deliver organized, accurate and coherent legal coursework

-      Effective communication of complex legal information to students both orally and in writing

-      Effective and respectful communication with students

-      Ability to provide responsive and constructive feedback to students

Preferences in hiring include: teaching experience
