We are seeking a Research Technician, Associate in Research or Postdoctoral Associate to work on the design, development and automation of seagoing instrumentation to study marine biogeochemistry. The job will offer opportunities for publications and to participate on scientific cruises.

Desired Qualifications

• Preference will be given to candidates with an electrical/mechanical engineering or chemistry background

• Lab experience, especially in hardware (e.g., analyzers, sensors, controls and actuators) and software (e.g., LabView, C, Matlab, Python, etc.) for automation, process control, and/or instrumentation development

• Will consider a range of backgrounds but preferred education:

o Postdoctoral fellow (< 3 yrs of postdoctoral fellowship experience); OR

o Associate in Research/Technician: MS with 2 years of experience ; OR

o BS with 5+ yrs of experience for the role.

Job Type

Regular, full time with salary commensurate with the individual’s experience. This position is renewable after 1 year contingent on performance, and beyond 3 years contingent on performance and funding.

Work Environment

Research conducted in the Cassar lab at Duke University focuses on biogeochemistry and ecophysiology, with the objective of constraining the mechanisms governing carbon, oxygen and nitrogen cycling. The lab is located on Duke’s main campus. Located in Durham, North Carolina.
