JOB DESCRIPTION
The Nicholas School of the Environment, in partnership with the Energy Data Analytics Lab at Duke University, invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher.
The individual hired will join the multi-institutional team of the GRACE project funded by the U.S. ARPA-E program, working under the supervision of Professors D. Patino-Echeverri, K. Bradbury, D. Brown, J. Smith, and A. Conejo and in collaboration with the Energy Data Analytics Lab. The newly hired member will contribute to developing a computational tool to schedule and operate electric power plants and energy storage devices while considering the challenges posed by uncertainty on electricity demand, wind and solar resources, and the weather events on all grid components.
TERM
The appointment will be for one year with the possibility of renewal for two more years, depending on performance and funding availability.
QUALIFICATIONS
We encourage applications from individuals interested in using data analysis and optimization tools to improve electric power systems planning and operational processes to integrate renewable energy cost-effectively and reliably. Applicants should have a degree in operations research, data analytics, data science, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, math, or related fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience. They should be proficient in Julia and Python.
PROJECTED START DATE
Newly hired individuals may work remotely or on a hybrid schedule until COVID concerns subside.
