Duke University Department of Psychology and Neuroscience

The Neuroscience of SPACE Laboratory at Duke University seeks a full time Associate in Research to join the lab. The Neuroscience of SPACE Lab’s research involves visual, auditory, and multisensory processing in the brain using neurophysiological and computational/statistical techniques.

Job duties include assisting in animal care involving macaques (handling, training, overseeing health status) and administrative responsibilities (ordering supplies, overseeing compliance with IACUC regulations, backing up computers). There will be opportunities to assist in conducting experiments concerning the neural basis of spatial processing and its connection to cognition.

A completed a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology or related quantitative field is required prior to the start date (ideally August/September 2024). Previous experience working with a mammalian species in a laboratory setting is a plus.

The ideal candidate will have training in the domain of neuroscience/psychology as well as some coursework in a computational/quantitative subject area (such as statistics, computer science, engineering, physics, or math), and be willing to make a 2+ year commitment to the position. Previous holders of this position have participated actively in the development of research projects in the laboratory and have gone on to graduate school in neuroscience.

This is a full time, grant funded position, eligible for all Duke benefits (https://hr.duke.edu/benefits) with an initial appointment of one year with the possibility of renewal, dependent on funding and performance. Anticipated start date is August/September 2024.
