Harvey Mudd College invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in electrical or computer engineering for our general engineering program for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years. A renewal for the second year will be contingent upon a satisfactory review early in the 2024 spring semester. The candidate must have experience in a hands-on or experimental discipline of electrical or computer engineering. The Department of Engineering seeks candidates with experience and knowledge in applications of electrical engineering who can excel in teaching a broadly-based undergraduate curriculum focused on design, systems engineering, and engineering science. Applicants must have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and professional growth. A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in electrical or computer engineering or a related field is required. Industrial or other practical experience in the field is valued. The salary is $85,000 for 9 months of teaching responsibilities.

Teaching opportunities may include the department’s sophomore/junior required courses in digital systems or circuit analysis; junior/senior electives in analog electronics or embedded systems; participation on teaching teams in the design and systems engineering sequences; supervising sponsored projects in the Engineering Clinic program; and developing courses in the applicant’s area of specialty.

Candidates should provide evidence of excellence in teaching and the ability to increase students’ hands-on engineering skills.
