The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applications for a tenure-system faculty position in high energy neutrino physics whose research program will include the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE). The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to carry out forefront research and a commitment to building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment, and will be expected to fulfill teaching and service responsibilities at MSU. While we expect the appointment to be at the assistant professor level, depending on the experience of the candidate, an appointment at the level of associate or full professor will be considered.

The MSU HEP group has a strong history of international recognition, unique strengths in both instrumentation and analysis, with experimental groups on ATLAS, IceCube, DUNE, NOvA, and T2K experiments. A successful application may include these or other HEP programs, but must include significant, planned future contributions to DUNE. MSU’s DUNE responsibilities are far detector cold electronics testing, quality control and assurance, near detector calibration system, PRISM system monitoring and MSU members have contributed to development of neutrino interaction models, oscillation analysis, and near detector simulation. MSU has a physics undergraduate major, minor program and a physics Ph.D. program. In addition, MSU has graduate certification programs in high energy physics instrumentation, computing modeling, accelerator science, and high performance computing, providing unique training and experiences for graduate students. MSU also has strong nuclear physics and astronomy programs, which provide excellent complementarity and opportunity for collaboration
