The Macalester College Department of Spanish and Portuguese invites applications for a non-tenure-track visiting position to begin Fall 2023, with possibility of renewal for up to two years. We seek a specialist in Latin American Literature and Culture of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a focus on Indigenous Studies in Mexico/Central America or the Southern Cone. The teaching load is five courses per year. Salary and benefits are competitive. To apply, electronically submit a curriculum vitae, cover letter, three letters of recommendation, and a diversity statement (see below) to Academic Jobs Online. Review of applications will begin January 15th, and continue until the position is filled. Questions should be directed to the chair of the search committee, Dr. Cynthia Kauffeld (kauffeld@macalester.edu).

Macalester College is committed to student and faculty diversity, equity, and inclusion. Strong candidates will have a record of experience or demonstrated commitment to teaching diverse students. In addition to the materials noted above, applicants should also submit a diversity statement (no longer than 2 pages) that discusses past experiences and/or potential future contributions to inclusive excellence in the areas of research, teaching, service, and/or outreach. In the diversity statement, applicants should reflect upon their experience and vision regarding the teaching and mentorship of students from diverse backgrounds.
