The Stanford Chemistry Department invites applications for a Ph.D.-level Lecturer position to begin autumn 2023 to join a team of Lecturers in the Department. The candidate should have a strong background in any area of chemistry and a passion for teaching. This position is a full-time, 9-month, fixed-term, full-benefit appointment. The initial appointment is for 2 years, with reappointment terms of 3 years. The teaching duties vary quarterly between instructing independent laboratories to co-instructing in an integrated lecture/laboratory course with a faculty member. As the department has moved toward active learning, the ideal candidate will also be involved in developing and evaluating new active learning materials. In addition to instruction, the candidate will be responsible for evolving laboratory exercises, mentoring course teaching assistants, advising students, and participating in Department committees, as appropriate. Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy (1 page), and three letters of recommendation addressing their teaching and/or administrative abilities.
