The University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School (UMCMS) seeks a part-time (20-24 hours per week) board certified/board eligible psychiatrist for the Partial Hospital Program at Cape Cod and Islands Mental Health Center in Pocasset. The partial hospital program is provided in conjunction with the 16-bed acute inpatient unit. The service provides much needed care for the region through the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. UMass, in collaboration with DMH, strives to provide recovery focused, trauma informed care that is integrated with the overall health and wellness for each person served. The psychiatrist will work closely with the partial hospital multidisciplinary team to provide care for approximately 10-20 patients per week. There is an opportunity to develop teaching for medical students and residents as well as research.

The successful candidate will receive a faculty appointment and access to Departmental support for clinical, training and research purposes. The department sponsors weekly CME and risk management training opportunities throughout the academic year.

The benefit package is designed specifically for Medical School Faculty, including malpractice coverage, health, disability and life insurance, in addition to retirement savings with the option of a pension plan. There are 13 paid holidays, 4 weeks of paid vacation, three paid conference days, and a $1500 annual practice allowance. There is no required on-call. There is the option for voluntary night, weekend and holiday coverage with competitive reimbursement.

We are the largest provider of psychiatric services in central and southeast Massachusetts with over 350 faculty and 10 hospitals and community mental health centers.

Our residency program trains 7 residents per year including general psychiatry and specialty tracks for combined adult and child psychiatry and combined neurology and psychiatry. We offer fellowships in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Neuropsychiatry, and Adult Developmental Disabilities.
