The Department of Molecular Physiology and Biological Physics, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, is seeking a Senior Equipment Service and Repair Technician to provide equipment and IT repairs throughout the Department. The incumbent will troubleshoot equipment, software and hardware issues and be the primary contact point for IT. The incumbent will hold an IT background with some level of competency in Windows, Mac, and Linux environments. Job responsibilities include: Research and purchase of departmental equipment after consulting with faculty. Troubleshoot department dishwashers and autoclaves, and arrange service as required. Troubleshoot and repair department shakers and arrange major repairs. Coordinate building-wide cleaning of shakers when contamination issues arise. Troubleshoot department ultracentrifuges and arrange service contracts. Troubleshoot and repair laboratory equipment, when requested by faculty. Compose or edit department-wide communications concerning equipment, IT and/or building services. Scientific equipment contact person. Troubleshooting software and hardware. Compose or edit department-wide communications concerning equipment, IT and/or building services. Contact person for communications with UVA IT. Perform annual space surveys. Resolve capital equipment asset tag discrepancies. Minimum Requirements: Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: Four years experience troubleshooting, installing, repairing, and maintaining electronic control systems. Licensure: Completion of LSP certificate and/or PSP Pro certificate or successful completion of two or more relatable courses including equipment repair with one year of employment. Preferred Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree Priority review of applications will begin on July 22, 2021, but the position will remain open until filled.
