Position Description:

The Duke Molecular Physiology Institute, a part of Duke University Medical Center, occupies a place of national and international leadership in the fight against major diseases. Our mission is to produce integrated multi-omics and physiologic profiles of chronic human diseases, and to use such profiles to develop new disease detection strategies, novel therapies, and insights into disease mechanisms.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Jim White. Dr. White’s laboratory investigates mechanisms of aging, focusing on immune/tissue dysfunction associated with impaired tissue regeneration. His research program employs a wide range of molecular techniques including in vitro cellular assays to study stem cell function, mouse models of aging and regeneration and human studies. The overarching goal of this work is to elucidate mechanisms of tissue function and develop “rejuvenation factors” to rescue/prevent age-related dysfunction.

The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D and expertise in flow cytometry-based cell quantification and sorting techniques. In addition, basic molecular and cellular techniques are required. Candidates should have the ability to perform independent research

To be considered for the position, candidates must apply through Academic Jobs Online. In addition, candidates must email Dr. White (james.white@duke.edu) a CV and cover letter describing their research experience and interests, as well as the name and contact information for three professional references.
