Position Overview: The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Merrimack College invites candidates to apply for a tenure-track position (open area) at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Our American Chemical Society-approved department currently offers majors in Chemistry (B.S.) and Biochemistry (B.S. and B.A.), jointly offers a minor in Forensic Science with the Criminology department, and provides courses for other majors offered at the college. The successful faculty hire must be able to contribute to the growth of our department by complementing the existing strengths of the current department members. Teaching responsibilities may include, but not be limited to, lecture and laboratory courses in forensic chemistry/science (at various levels), courses in the general and organic chemistry sequences, and advanced courses. Our department has modern instrumentation including NMR, IR, UV-vis, and fluorescence spectrometers, a GC-MS, an ESI-ion trap LC-MS, and an ICP-MS.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities of the tenure-track faculty member will include teaching introductory and upper level courses in the department, building an active research program involving undergraduate research students, and performing service to the college community.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry. Postdoctoral or equivalent experience is preferred. We would especially encourage individuals with experience in mass spectrometry, forensic science/chemistry, and/or applied organic chemistry to apply. Permanent US work authorization and/or US Citizenship is required.
