Job Title: Post-Doctoral Fellow

Department: Department of Psychiatry, Division of Geriatric Psychiatry

Description of Area or Topic of Research: We are seeking a post-doctoral research fellow to work as part of the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry academic program at Queen’s University. The Division of Geriatric Psychiatry has an active program of research involving observational study designs and knowledge translation research. The position is based at Providence Care Hospital in Kingston, Ontario. The position would involve participation in the Divisional research program with an emphasis on health services research using administrative healthcare databases at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences at Queen’s University. Areas of research activity include analysis of health service utilization and outcomes of older adults with psychiatric disorders, knowledge synthesis and policy analysis related to geriatric mental health conditions, and pharmacoepidemiologic studies related to psychotropic medications in older adults. Depending on the background of applicants there may also be opportunities for implementation research related to clinical programs or involvement in clinical research.

Supervision and Academic Unit: Supervisor: Dr. Dallas Seitz, Chair, Division of Geriatric Psychiatry, Queen’ University Division of Geriatric Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry, Queen’s University.

Remuneration: $60,000/year plus benefits Start Date and Duration of Appointment: Flexible start date - duration of appointment is 12 months(possibility of renewal for one additional year).

Required Qualifications: Consideration will be given to applicants who have completed an MD along with psychiatry or geriatric psychiatry residency training in Canada or abroad or individuals who have completed a PhD in a discipline related to the research program including: Epidemiology, Health Services or Health Policy, Biostatistics, or Gerontology. Consideration of individuals with PhD training completed in other disciplines will be considered.
