We are a freestanding and diverse program within the College of Arts and Sciences, with strengths in poetry and literary fiction and a record of excellence in our M.F.A. program.

We seek candidates specializing in literary fiction. Competitive applicants will have publications in top-tier journals, fellowships and/or awards, and book publication(s) from a top-tier publisher. Experience in an M.F.A. environment (teaching, advising, service, etc.) preferred. We particularly welcome applications from writers who are from populations historically underrepresented in the academy, and/or who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities will include:

• teaching one M.F.A. workshop, four undergraduate creative writing courses (five courses total), and directing five individual tutorials for our first-year graduate students,

• program service (i.e., graduate admissions, M.F.A. exam, etc.), and

• participation in the program’s Reading Series.

This is a non-tenure-track, nine-month, non-renewable position at 1.0 FTE. The University of Oregon offers a competitive benefits package.

UO is committed to recruiting and retaining a culturally diverse and pluralistic faculty. We encourage applications from all qualified candidates, and strongly encourage women faculty, faculty of color and faculty with disabilities to apply. We are especially interested in candidates who can support our work in mentoring, research, teaching, and outreach with women, first-generation students, communities of color, and other underrepresented groups. Applicants should include in their cover letter information about how they will contribute to this work.
