Overview

Chapman University’s graduate program in Physician Assistant Studies seeks applications for a Non-Tenure Instructional Assistant/Associate Professor within Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences beginning in Spring 2018.

The program is located on the Rinker Health Science campus in Irvine, California. The new campus is designed to foster an inter-­professional educational environment and to use cutting-­edge technology in teaching and practice. The campus features state­ of­ the ­art facilities, including a human anatomy laboratory, teaching and learning spaces with innovative technology, and inter-­professional, collaborative centers. The campus is home to several current and developing accredited, graduate health science professional programs, including Doctor of Physical Therapy, Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Doctor of Pharmacy. The Rinker campus is strategically located near numerous health service, medical device, and bio-pharmaceutical companies.

Qualifications:
• PhD, EdD, or DHsc in Human Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Biological Sciences or a related discipline is required.

• Experience in teaching, research, inter-professional education and incorporating technology into teaching and professional practice is highly desirable.

• MD with teaching experience in research methods, pathophysiology and human physiology is desirable.

Responsibilities:
Teach Principles of Medical Science/Physiology, Evidence Based Medicine, Research Methods and Design to first year students (didactic year).

Serve as a course director in Graduate Project 1 and Graduate Project 2 (second year students/clinical year). 

Faculty member will incorporate pathophysiology in medical courses offered throughout the curriculum. 

Faculty member will engage in research with students, advise physician assistant students, participate in inter-professional educational experiences, assist in curriculum development and assessment, create course syllabi, provide professional and academic service, University and community service, assist in accreditation, direct and co- direct course(s) in curriculum, assist in admissions process, participate in ongoing program self-evaluation, assessment and improvement, participate in scholarly activities, participate in student society, develop teaching strategies, and, any other tasks/responsibilities as directed by the Program Director and/or Dean of Crean College of Health & Behavioral Sciences.
