The Peace and Conflict Studies Program at Colgate University (PCON) seeks two visiting assistant professors for one-year appointments, beginning fall semester 2018. The successful candidates will have expertise in issues of broad concern to the field of peace and conflict studies, including but not limited to regional or transnational conflict, gendered, ethnic or religious conflict, conflict over resources, post-conflict societies, cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, terrorism, or human rights. Candidates may have expertise, including fieldwork, in any geographical area. We welcome applicants with disciplinary training in sociology, anthropology, political science, international relations, international studies, history, or geography. Completion of Ph.D. is expected prior to or shortly after July 1, 2018.

Successful candidates will teach at all levels of the program and should possess a demonstrated ability to teach the Introduction to Peace and Conflict Studies (PCON 111), as well as one of the following: Practices of Peace and Conflict (PCON 218) or Theories of Peace and Conflict (PCON 225). Candidates, in their cover letters, should also indicate which of the current PCON elective courses they are prepared to offer. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to program activities, including lectures, workshops, and events that support faculty scholarship. They may also be asked to contribute courses to the university’s Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
