The Helmholtz Zentrum München in Munich, Germany, is member of one of the leading research associations in Europe - the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. The aim of our research is to proactively detect health risks involving humans and the environment, decoding the mechanisms of pathogenesis and developing concepts for prevention and therapy.

The Helmholtz Pioneer Campus (HPC) is an innovation campus with a startup culture, routed in the Helmholtz Zentrum München. HPC stands for the smart fusion of biomedical sciences, engineering and digitization in a research environment that has no parallel in Europe.

To support the efficient deployment of newly recruited Pioneer Teams we are now recruiting a

Technical Project Manager Laboratories & Facilities (f/m) 2018/0274

Your role
As technically highly accomplished Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient establishment of state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure, as well as the implementation of processes that warrant the smooth operation of HPC research teams, currently being embedded in various institutes of the Helmholtz Zentrum München.

The challenge
In this role, you identify and coordinate the infrastructure-, technical-, equipment- and consumables demands in close liaison with five, to date recruited HPC-teamleader. You will continuously interact with the central administration at the Helmholtz Zentrum München, e.g. the purchasing department, facility managment, technical services, the data-center, HR-management and finance department.

You are a strong communicator, quickly develop relationships, multitask, make/negotiate rationale decisions and take them through execution. This post requires fluent German and English language skills. International experience is much desired but not an obligation.

Your qualifications
We are searching for an experienced, technically oriented Laboratory and/or Science Manager with proven project managment skills, ideally with previous exposure to a life science-, engineering or computer science-environment. Prior knowledge of the processes and operations at a publically funded research institution are beneficial. We are specifically looking for individuals that are highly dedicated to support outstanding international talents at their challenging start into an independent scientific career.

Our Offer
This post offers potential for longterm career progression. The flagship HPC laboratory building, future home to 20 Pioneer teams (about 150 scientists) is scheduled to go into operation at the end of 2021.

Remuneration and benefits are in accordance with the collective agreement for the public service (TV EntgO Bund).

The position is initially limited to two years. Anticipated starting date: August 1st 2018
