Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University ( ) is building a new focus in computer science as part of its planned expansion and invites applications for its new faculty positions. Targeted areas for the current search include data science, machine learning, and next-generation computing. We aim to recruit scientists who create original computing frameworks based on novel mathematical insights and/or emerging new hardware, including quantum devices.

Excellent scholarship and creativity are the main criteria. We are particularly interested in scholars who complement and extend existing strengths at OIST and have the potential to interact broadly with the interdisciplinary OIST community. In addition, successful candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in research and education.

Successful candidates are expected to establish an active and independent program of research, to supervise Ph.D. students, to teach in the graduate program, and perform university services as required. Generous research resources will be provided, which may be supplemented with external grants. Appointments will be Tenure-Track or Tenured. Starting date is flexible.
