Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Virology Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences, and Director of the Virology Laboratory, Animal Health Diagnostic Center College of Veterinary Medicine Cornell University Ithaca, NY 

The Department of Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY ( seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the field of Virology to direct the Clinical Virology Laboratory of the Animal Health Diagnostic Center. Applicants should have a Ph.D., D.V.M., M.D., or equivalent degree with postdoctoral training. We seek candidates well trained in a combination of basic and clinical sciences to fill an appointment combining research with diagnostic service responsibilities for the Virology Laboratory of the Cornell Animal Health Diagnostic Center (AHDC). Areas of research interest include viral entry, replication, assembly, vaccine and anti-viral development, pathogenesis, viral evolution or epidemiology, or diagnostics of viral animal or zoonotic diseases. The research program should intersect with the diagnostic responsibilities of the position. 

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and/or maintain an innovative, extramurally funded research program. The new faculty member will join a collaborative, interdisciplinary Life Sciences community on the Ithaca campus of Cornell University, including the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and the Baker Institute for Animal Health within the College of Veterinary Medicine, as well as campus-wide strengths in chemistry, engineering, biophysics, cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry and computer science. Additional potential for interactions exist with Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. 

The Virology Laboratory has been at the forefront of diagnostic efforts in the field. The laboratory is a motivated, service-oriented group, including approximately 20 technical staff. The applicant must dedicate a significant portion of his/her appointment to this University-based diagnostic laboratory environment, and have expertise in applied aspects of veterinary and zoonotic virology. The applicant will be expected to maintain and augment the high quality of diagnostic service that currently exists. 

Salary and rank will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
