Boston University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in biological design, which we define as the approach of building new biological systems ranging from proteins to organs as a means to understand fundamental biological principles. Example areas of interest include but are not limited to systems and synthetic biology, chemical biology, physics of biology, microbiome, cell and developmental biology, and regenerative medicine. This is a collaborative, interdisciplinary search involving faculty from the College of Arts and Sciences and College of Engineering. The new hire will join and collaborate with investigators in BU’s Biological Design Center and will be appointed to a tenure-track position in one of the participating departments based on background and interests. The successful candidate will join a strong and growing interdisciplinary research community at Boston University and will be offered newly renovated laboratory facilities, a competitive salary and startup package. Candidates must hold a PhD in an appropriate field, have postdoctoral experience and show potential for leading an independent and vibrant research program.
