POSITION: Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (Dynamics/Vibrations/Control)

EFFECTIVE DATE: August 19, 2019 (Fall Semester)

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (or a closely related discipline) and a research interest in Dynamics, Vibrations and Control. Degree at the time of application or official notification of completion of the the doctoral degree by August 1, 2019. Specialization in the areas of Dynamics, Vibrations, and Control with application to Mechanical and aerospace systems. Potential for effective teaching at the college level. Record of or demonstrated potential for successful research, scholarly and creative activities. Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population. DESIRED/PREFERRED Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the QUALIFICATIONS: college level. Experience in teaching courses in the areas of Dynamics, Vibrations and Control in both Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Demonstrated ability and clear plans for the development of research programs and curriculum in emerging and rapidly developing areas of Dynamics, Vibrations and Control. Demonstrated ability to supervise student projects, develop courses and academic programs, update curriculum, supervise students’ theses, and actively participate in academic governance. Demonstrated interest in contributing to the mission of the department, the college, and the University.

DUTIES: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in or related to Dynamics, Vibrations and Control, as well as undergraduate fundamental courses in mechanical and aerospace engineering. Develop new courses and laboratories; revise and update existing courses; supervise student projects and theses; write grant proposals and seek research funding; conduct independent and collaborative research leading to publication and external funding; actively participate in department, college, University, and community service.
