ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE

DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING EDUCATION

The Ohio State University at Marion invites applications for a full-time clinical-track Assistant Professor of Practice position in the College of Engineering, Department of Engineering Education (EED: http://eed.osu.edu).  This position begins in Autumn Semester 2019. 

Candidates must show evidence of excellence and accomplishment in teaching with at least one year of university level teaching experience and earned Ph.D. or terminal degree in any branch of engineering or a closely related field.  Desired qualifications include expertise to teach courses in several engineering disciplines, abilities to collaborate with diverse, multidisciplinary teams, and willingness to engage actively with other engineering departments and colleges across the university, as well as with industry partners.

Teaching responsibilities include first and second year undergraduate courses in engineering education and mechanical engineering. Additional teaching responsibilities may include instruction of courses in material science and integrated system engineering.  The successful candidate will be expected to provide service to various units, including the campus, college, and department.

EED was formed in November 2015. Its mission includes advancing the engineering profession and enabling student success by 1) modeling and advocating scholarly, evidence-based teaching within the College of Engineering; 2) developing and delivering state-of-the-art, innovative, first-year engineering, engineering technical communication, and multidisciplinary capstone engineering courses and programs; and 3) integrating pedagogical discovery, practice, and dissemination through world-class engineering education scholarship through research. 

Faculty members on the Marion campus hold appointments in their academic departments at The Ohio State University and are promoted to the next level through the process outlined in their academic departments for professors of practice.  Teaching responsibilities for this position will primarily occur at Ohio State Marion, one of the six campuses of The Ohio State University.
