Position Description: Benedictine University Exercise and Sports Studies Program invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure track faculty appointment as Assistant Professor.  Appointment date is Fall semester 2019.


Founded as a Catholic university in 1887, Benedictine University is located in Lisle, Illinois, a vibrant and family friendly western suburb of Chicago.  Benedictine is within easy driving distance of everything Chicago has to offer, while providing a safe environment voted amongst the best places to live in America.  The College of Education and Health Services has grown to include Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition, Exercise and Sports Science, Educational Leadership, Elementary and Special Education, and over 40 faculty members and 1,200 full and part-time students.

·       Teaching, research, and service

·       Assist the program coordinator with curriculum development, assessment, and progression of the Exercise and Sports Studies program

  • Collaborate with programs in the areas of public health, health education, nutrition, exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, and personal training.
  • Conduct on-going research/scholarly activity in area of expertise and disseminate findings.
  • Participate in professional and community activities.
  • Participate and serve on state, national, and international professional organizations.
  • Participate in academic activities at the Community, Program, Department, College, and University levels.

Minimum Qualifications: 

·       Earned doctorate in kinesiology, exercise science, or related field from an accredited institution

·       Evidence of ability to produce scholarly/research accomplishments

  • Ability to harmoniously work with colleagues, students, and the community within a diverse community
  • A belief in and respect for using sport for development, social justice, and peace


Preferred qualifications

·       Expertise in biomechanics, functional anatomy, sport psychology and/or sociology

·       Certification in coaching, coach development/education, strength and conditioning, mental performance, or exercise physiology
