Chapman University's nationally recognized Dodge College of Film and Media Arts seeks applications for a seeking applicants for a non-tenure track Artistic Assistant Professor of Animation/Visual Effects, beginning August 2019. The animation/visual effects program is part of the B.F.A. in media arts, in which students learn the art and technology of animation and/or visual effects for motion pictures, television, games, and emerging technologies. The successful candidate must have earned a college degree in an area related to arts and/or technology. Previous teaching experience is advantageous but not absolutely required. Strong writing and communication skills are required. Professional experience, especially in the area of visual effects production and post-production, is required.

Faculty duties include teaching beginning and advanced courses at the undergraduate level, mentoring students, program development and service to the school and university. The teaching load is 18.5 credits in addition to continued professional work and/or research and scholarship. The successful candidate will be expected to take part in interdisciplinary research in new technologies within the department, interfacing with the live action (film production) program and Computer Gaming departments as well as work the Program Director to review and refine curriculum related to VFX and emerging technology disciplines, and foster strong industry relationships with professional individuals and companies in the VFX/emerging technologies fields.
