Assistant Teaching Professor in Design Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering is seeking outstanding candidates for an Assistant Teaching Professor position in Design Engineering. The successful candidate will have an initial three-year appointment and will be eligible for a continuing appointment. The appointee will contribute to design education across the faculty and is expected to become a faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

The candidate will have at least two years industrial experience in engineering design. Experience in a technology area of interest to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, for example power systems, electrical machines, renewable energy or biomedical engineering would be an asset; multidisciplinary experience is also desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level, including lecture-based and project-based first and upper year engineering design courses, to engage in scholarship related to engineering education and to participate in the academic affairs of the university. The appointee will also be expected to actively engage in recruitment and outreach activities of the Department.

The minimum qualifications are a Masters degree in electrical or computer engineering or a closely related discipline and registration as a professional engineer in B.C. or eligibility for and commitment to registration. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in an electrical engineering discipline, together with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience working in collaboration with colleagues with both engineering and non-engineering backgrounds.
