Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Mechanical Design

DESCRIPTION

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The Ohio State University invites applications from outstanding individuals for a tenure-track faculty position in the field of mechanical design and machine elements. This position will be expected to attract funding to develop and sustain active sponsored research programs, teach core undergraduate and/or graduate courses, develop new graduate courses related to research expertise, advise MS and PhD students, and provide intellectual leadership and exhibit outstanding scholarship in their research field. The search preference is for individuals at the assistant professor level, but all will be considered.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have, by the start date, an earned doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field. We seek candidates having demonstrated the ability to conduct research at the highest level, and have a record of, or the promise for, outstanding teaching and supervision of students. This search will consider faculty candidates having research interests in power transmission systems, with specific research expertise in gear and rolling-element bearing contact mechanics and load distribution modeling, deformable-body gear and bearing dynamics, gear kinematics and geometry including cross-axis gearing, gear manufacturing process simulation and error sensitivities, and gearbox efficiency and reliability.
