An NIH-funded, post-doctoral associate position is available in the lab of Alexander Travis. The successful candidate will use multidisciplinary approaches including cell and molecular biology, advanced imaging and microscopy, biochemistry and mouse genetic models to investigate membrane regulation of ion channels in various cells. Understanding how the membrane lipid and protein microenvironment regulates channel activity will improve our understanding of normal physiological events such as fertilization, as well as pathological conditions such as obesity, diabetes and infertility.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in related fields. Experience with cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, cell culture, and work with lab animals is desired. Experience with ion channels, cell signaling, and/or membrane biology will be considered favorably. Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential for participating in our multi-disciplinary team, and writing scientific papers and grant proposals. Strong work ethic, creativity, enthusiasm, and ability to work in a team are required.

Full-time, 2 year appointment (Renewed annually) with possible extension depending on funding and performance.
