ACADEMIC LEADER (similar to Postdoctoral Associate)
Center for Latin-America Logistics Innovation
Bogotá, Colombia

The MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics (MIT CTL) and the logistics education and GS1 firm LOGyCA partnered to create the Center for Latin-American Logistics Innovation (CLI) as part of the MIT Global SCALE Network of supply chain research centers. Through this partnership, the MIT Global SCALE Network has developed a vibrant academic and research network throughout Latin America. Center for Latin-American Logistics Innovation (CLI) currently has an opening for an Academic Leader based in Bogotá, Colombia.

Responsibilities:

  • As part of the Research team, he/she is responsible for the creation, support and dissemination of new knowledge in logistics, supply chain, technology and related fields.
  • Lead and develop high-quality investigations and maintain contacts with industry and government.
  • Present the results of the research in national and international recognized forums, conferences.
  • Aim to publish his/her academic outcome (such as papers, book chapters) both in national and international peer-reviewed journals, white papers, CLI reports, MIT papers, specialized magazines or other documents.
  • Participate in academic and industrial programs offered and supported by CLI, which are oriented to training and development of Executives and occasionally graduate students.
  • Keep regular contact with researchers, knowledge experts from MIT CTL and its SCALE Global Network (ZLC in Spain, MISI in Malaysia, LCL in Luxembourg, NSCIII in China), and the top 30 universities that comprise the academic partners from the SCALE Latin America network.
  • Write academic and industry-based proposals to acquire funding that supports the development of Research Projects.
  • Perform some administrative activities that belong to the role.

Requirements

  • PhD in supply chain, logistics or industrial engineering, or related fields with desirable experience in logistics, supply chain management, operations management, operations management, retail operations, econometric and mathematical modelling. 
  • Deep interest in applied research with industry focus. 
  • Proven research record and client management skills.
  • Work experience in supply chain and/or research projects for at least 2 years. 
  • Leadership, innovation and proactive skills.
  • Knowledge transfer & project management skills.
  • Fully bilingual (English at 90% & Spanish at 80% (at least).
  • Disruptive thinking and deep passion to drive innovation and research into practice.
