Position Description: |
The
Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of
Connecticut seeks an Assistant Professor-in-Residence for a non-tenure-track
appointment at the main campus located in Storrs, Connecticut. The
Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) Department is a CAA-accredited
program in both audiology and speech-language pathology. The department has 14 faculty members, 350
undergraduate and 125 graduate students.
The SLHS Department is a key component of the UConn Cognitive Sciences
Program and a participating department in the interdisciplinary training
program funded by a National Science Foundation IGERT (Integrative Graduate
Education and Research Training) grant (https://nbl.cogsci.uconn.edu).
SLHS is also a core department for the UConn grants for Leadership Education in
Neurodevelopmental and Related Disorders (LEND) and pediatric audiology. The
Storrs campus is located in rural Connecticut, 30 minutes from Hartford and 60
minutes from Providence, RI, between Boston (90 minutes away) and New York City
(2 ½ hours away). The
successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate courses in
audiology. The teaching load will be
four courses for one semester and three courses for the other semester. In
addition, this individual will be expected to participate in outreach and
service activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications
include a completed terminal degree (e.g., Au.D., Ph.D. related field) or an equivalent
foreign terminal degree at the time of appointment and a proven record of
teaching excellence. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred
qualifications include a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology and
experience teaching a broad range of topics in audiology. The successful candidate will be able to
foster a collegial working atmosphere. APPOINTMENT TERMS
This
position is a nine-month, non-tenure track position with reappointment
annually. The anticipated start date is January 21, 2020. This position does not lead to permanent academic tenure and
will be filled subject to budgetary approval. This appointment will be at the
main campus in Storrs, CT. Salary will
