A Postdoctoral Fellow position in shock wave and laser lithotripsy is immediately available in the Zhong lab at Duke University (https://mems.duke.edu/faculty/pei-zhong). We are looking for a talented candidate with expertise in biophotonics, laser-tissue interaction, shock wave and cavitation-induced bioeffects both at tissue and cellular level. Qualifications include PhD in biomedical engineering or related fields with extensive research experience in medical instrumentation and optical measurements, such as microscopy, photoelastic and shadowgraphic imaging, and spectroscopy. Experience with animal and patient studies is highly desirable. The successful candidate will work within a large team of scientists, clinicians and students with diverse backgrounds, and therefore excellent writing and communication skills are essential. The main research projects include: 1) development of next-generation shock wave lithotripter, 2) mechanisms of laser-stone-tissue interaction, 3) mechanotransduction produced by shock wave, cavitation bubbles, and ultrasound at the single cell level in relation to neural modulation. Our multidisciplinary research team provides a conducive environment with excellent opportunities for scientific growth and pursuit of academic and industry careers. Interested candidates should send their resume, statement of research interest and career goals, and contact information for three references to Dr. Pei Zhong (pzhong@duke.edu).
