Tenure-Track Position Opening 

 RECRUITMENT NUMBER: 2547 

 POSITION: Assistant Professor of Human Development 

 EFFECTIVE DATE: August 17, 2020 (Fall Semester) 

 SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ph.D. in Human Development or an allied field such as Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, or Health Sciences or related fields 
  • Degree at time of application or official notification of the completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2020 
  • Research and teaching focus on Black, African American, or African diaspora populations within a life-course perspective
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to effectively teach undergraduate courses in Human Development, including the department’s core life course curriculum 
  • Record of or demonstrated potential for successful research and publication
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population
DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses from an interdisciplinary perspective  
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to involve undergraduate students in faculty-directed research and/or mentor undergraduate students in independent research  
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct research leading to publication in areas relevant to the department’s mission 
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary context  
  • Evidence of or potential for department, college, university, and community service 
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to establish and maintain research ties to underserved communities 
DUTIES: 
  • Teach courses in Human Development including core life course classes and develop courses in area(s) of specialization 
  • Supervise undergraduate students in research and fieldwork  
  • Engage in research, scholarly, and creative activities leading to publication 
  • Participate in service to department, college, university and community.
