Position Description:

Co-supervised Postdoctoral Associate position available with Dr. Paul Seli and Dr. Tobias Egner

Dr. Paul Seli and Dr. Tobias Egner are seeking one Postdoctoral Associate to begin as soon as possible (fall 2019 at the latest), for one or more years. Postdocs will design and run research studies, analyze data, prepare publications, and be a core member of their labs' intellectual community. We are seeking highly motivated candidates who have experience with lab/online experiments and who are interested in (a) mind wandering and inattention, (b) cognitive control, and/or (c) task-switching. Computational skills (e.g. web programming, R, Python, MATLAB) are a plus.

Our research combines behavioral and neuroimaging-based experiments. Our research draws on approaches from psychology, philosophy, economics, biology, and sociology, and our lab culture aims to advance our understanding of ways to enhance human potential by fostering open discussion and debate, and by rewarding originality and vision.

Ideal candidates will be intrinsically motivated, creative, independent, articulate, and deeply engaged in their research. Funds for conducting experiments will be available to the fellow, as will the many opportunities for collaboration afforded by the Duke community. (There are also significant opportunities for collaboration with leading researchers, from institutions around the world, who collaborate with the PIs.) Postdocs will also have the opportunity to help mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the lab.

Individuals with a Ph.D., or those expecting to complete their Ph.D. in spring 2019, are encouraged to apply. We welcome and encourage you to apply even if you do not think you might meet all the specified qualifications above. We function as a highly collaborative team, and so we work with each other’s strengths and weaknesses. No need to email inquiring as to whether the position is still available!
