We are inviting applications for an Instructor/Assistant Professor in Residence in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.

The Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) Department is a CAA-accredited program in both audiology and speech-language pathology. The department has 20 faculty members, 300 undergraduate and 125 graduate students. The SLHS Department is a key component of the UConn Cognitive Sciences Program and a participating department in the interdisciplinary training program funded by a National Science Foundation IGERT (Integrative Graduate Education and Research Training) grant ( The Storrs campus is located in eastern Connecticut, 30 minutes from Hartford and 45 minutes from Providence, RI, between Boston (90 minutes away) and New York City (2½ hours away). The successful candidate will be expected to share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to the mentoring of students in their professional development.  Successful candidates will be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their activities the richness of diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools; contribute to the development of pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.  The teaching load will be four courses one semester and three courses the other semester. In addition, this individual will be expected to participate in outreach and service activities.


Master’s degree and Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).  Proven excellence in teaching a broad range of topics  including fluency, voice disorders, swallowing and feeding disorders, and other neurogenic based disorders.  The successful candidate will be able to foster a collegial working atmosphere.


Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).


This is a nine-month, non-tenure track position with annual reappointment. The anticipated start date is August 23, 2020. This appointment will be at the main campus in Storrs, CT.  Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
